For more than three decades, Midsummer’s Music has brought exhilarating, world-class classical performances to Door County, Wisconsin. The organization presents international premieres, dynamic chamber works, and artistically rich concert experiences that highlight the region’s cultural, historical, and scenic character.
A multifaceted arts organization, Midsummer’s Music collaborates with renowned musicians from Chicago’s Lyric Opera, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Ravinia Festival, Pro Arte Quartet, and others. Its programming blends beloved classical repertoire with remarkable works by underrepresented composers, drawing a dedicated and expanding audience each season. Thousands more experience the music through Wisconsin Public Radio, Chicago’s WFMT Radio, SiriusXM, and leading digital platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, and The Violin Channel. In addition, Midsummer’s Music also partners with community organizations such as Write On, Door County, whose poets and artists create original works based on the music that inspired them.
The Griffon String Quartet, Midsummer’s Music’s affiliate quartet, enriches the lives of children and adults across northeast Wisconsin through concerts, workshops, and comprehensive music-education programming. As the region’s only year-round, fully professional classical music organization, Midsummer’s Music plays a vital role in expanding access to the arts and strengthening the cultural fabric of the communities it serves.
